My drawings inhabit 'Otherworld', a place in our future. I am a naturalist recording a world fast approaching a cataclysmic change. As I continue to draw I bring a shadow of immortality to the life I capture.
My work is primarily visual, even representational rather than abstract. I draw obsessive structures in nearly microscopic form. I create woven linear networks, sinuous forms, highlighting areas topographically, featuring clusters of markings and curly trails of insect-like shapes parading through more loosely woven linear net works. I suggest peaceful rivers and mountains in one area, and in another the interaction between symbiotic forms creating industry, effluent and pollution.
The laws are different here. The seeds of life grow and interact. Each of my drawings is a development within an alternative universe where Darwin's theories still prevail.
In 2008 beings from Otherworld slipped through into the false reality of the Bournemouth Town Centre Gardens. They roamed among thousands of transient visitors eliciting responses of care nurture and delight. These beings may once again visit Holton Lee.
